the Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area had one of their most successful Pancake Breakfasts to date. With almost 1000 attendees and over $1000 raised in donations they beat their showing last year by at least 300 people. The public event, which began at 7 a.m. and ran until 11 a.m., was a thank you to the cochrane community; and the community certainly thanked them back.

“This years breakfast was a huge success! It’s always great to see the community come out so we can properly thank them for all they do for us,” explained Executive Director Jill Bilodeau.

The breakfast featured plenty of activities for the whole family including, an airbrush tattoo station, colouring corner, line dancing, gift baskets, WestJet raffle, ax throwing and a dunk tank.
The Ax throwing set up, provided by Chuck Steel’s, was a donation to the Boys and Girls Club by the owners and certainly drew a crowd. Even the local fire station got involved throwing their own axes at the targets.

The second crowd pleaser was the by-donation dunk tank. Editor Puglia and Coun. Wilson had long line-ups of pitchers waiting to soak the good-spirited volunteers. The activities raised not only $100 and $120 respectively for the BGCC but provided the line up of hungry attendees with some entertainment.
The breakfast itself had a heart warming amount of donations provided through their gift basket and WestJet raffles. The funds raised will go towards up-coming fall programs.

“The cochrane community is so generous and we are especially thankful for our community partners, they make things like this so easy for us.” says Bilodeau.

Overall the event was a great success and the organization is already looking forward to next year.
